Q: I want to run Economacs in another language. How do I do that?
A: Mac OS X selects the language to start Economacs in based on your selection in the System Preferences (the International panel, under the Language tab). If you want to run Mac OS in one language and Economacs in a different language, you can
- Open Applications/Utilities in Finder
- Start Terminal
- Paste the following line and press return
- defaults write se.aderstedtsoftware.economacs AppleLanguages '(en)'
- Exit Terminal
- The application will now start in English
Q: When I try to save I get a message similar to "The document could not be saved". What does that mean?
Q: Economacs is great, except I need/want feature X/Y/Z. Can you add it?
Q: How do I make backups?
A: Your accounting- and invoicing information is stored as a regular document (the icon is a sheet of paper with three blue binders on it). You can copy this around in any way you like. The same goes for the program itself.
If you keep several instances of your file about, please make sure that you always enter new stuff into the same one. It is not possible to merge different files.
Q: In what languages is Economacs available?
A: English, Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Norwegian.
Q: Can I edit the built-in invoice template?
A: Find Economacs in the finder. Right-click (or ctrl-click) it and select 'Show package contents'.
Navigate to 'Contents', 'Resources' and then choose 'Built -in.template'. Copy and save it
somewhere else before you edit it, otherwise your changes will be overwritten the next time you
install an update to Economacs.
To edit the built-in invoice template in Economacs 3 you do like this:
A: Find Economacs in the Finder. Right-click (or ctrl-click) it and select 'Show package contents'. Navigate to 'Contents', 'Resources' and then 'English.lproj' (or another .lproj folder if you want a different language). There you'll find the built-in invoice template. Copy it somewhere else before you edit it, otherwise your changes will be overwritten the next time you install an update to Economacs.
